With four offensive starters returning to the fold for Sunday's game, including two skill position guys in running back Darren McFadden and wide receiver Chaz Schilens, coach Tom Cable was predictably tight-lipped when asked about his starters.

On the heels of consecutive feel-good victories to close out the 2008 season, the Raiders entered 2009 seemingly on the same page.

The San Diego Chargers were just another team to running back Justin Fargas, cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha and linebacker Sam Williams when they joined the Raiders in 2003.

It was back to business as usual for the Oakland Raiders. A week after upsetting the Philadelphia Eagles, 13-9, the Raiders suffered their worst home loss in franchise history, falling to the New York Jets, 38-0. When this season comes to an end, and Raider fans have a moment to reflect on what will be yet another disturbingly poor season.

Oh, Richard Seymour. I didn't know you were such a starry-eyed optimist. During an interview on a Cincinnati radio show before a Week Seven game, Seymour, who was traded in September from the Patriots to the Raiders for a 2011 first-round pick, made the boldest of predictions.

MEANWHILE, on the field, the Raiders today get back to Football. No wondering if the coach will be arrested, no concerns about the investigation by the Napa police and no questions to players about an issue unrelated to a game.

Mark Sanchez was sneaking a hot dog on the New York Jets ' sideline, while JaMarcus Russell watched solemnly as backup Bruce Gradkowski finished up another blowout loss for the Oakland Raiders on the other.

"You can mark it down, the Raiders will be in the playoffs in 2009." Those are some bold words from a bold man.
