Bengals coaches defend Dunlap's hit on Ryan

One day after several Atlanta Falcons offensive players complained Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Carlos Dunlap delivered a "cheap shot" on quarterback Matt Ryan , two of Dunlap's coaches came to his defense Monday saying they didn't think there was anything wrong or malicious with Dunlap's post-whistle roll into Ryan's leg. "He dove out to tackle the quarterback," Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said.

Seven plays that explain Week 2

Lured away from premature retirement , middle linebacker Rolando McClain is leading a Dallas Cowboys defense that has exceeded meager expectations through two weeks. The highlight of Sunday's 26-10 victory over the Titans was McClain's circus catch on an interception that would have gone for a touchdown if the officials had ruled it correctly from the beginning of the play.

Jamie Walker: The "Dirty" Reaction-Falcons vs Bengals

Our hometown Atlanta Falcons after such a euphoric win a week ago against the hated New Orleans Saints, got a dose of reality as they traveled to Cincinnati and got beat handily by the Bengals by the score of 24-10. For the Falcons there is not much that the team can take away in the positive column and the coaching staff will have to regroup in a hurry to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday night.

Rapid Reaction: Atlanta Falcons

What it means: The 1-1 Falcons still have plenty of work to do on both sides of the ball, but particularly on defense, after getting dominated. The final score would have been worse had Bengals kicker Mike Nugent not missed three field goals, although one was a 55-yarder.
