As the "rebuild" phase continues in Washington, certain positions will experience new coaching next year.

MOBILE, Ala. - Washington Redskins strong safety LaRon Landry is proceeding toward free agency with hopes of avoiding surgery on his left Achilles tendon, coach Mike Shanahan said Monday after overseeing a Senior Bowl practice here.

The Redskins moved today to fill the two remaining coaching vacancies on the team, hiring former New York Giants wideout Ike Hilliard to coach wide receivers and moving Bob Slowik from secondary coach to linebackers coach, according to ESPN 980 radio.

The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach agreed to take the job two weeks ago. The Redskins confirmed the move Monday, when he joined coach Mike Shanahan 's staff in Mobile, Ala.

Two names that drew notice during the Jaguars' assistant coach interview process didn't make the team's coaching roster, but on Friday, the roster became closer to full.
