Patience Lost: Should the Raiders Bench JaMarcus Russell?

Full story: Bleacher Report

All indications have been however, that the Raiders do not fully believe in Russell yet, which could be affecting their will to play.

Yes Russell should be benched, but I'm not sure Gradkowski could do much better at this point. The upcoming games are against much tougher teams and the Raiders have injury problems on the O-line,the running backs are playing awful, and their best reciever (Chaz Schilens) is coming off a broken foot. The defense can't be blamed for the offense's inability to sustain any kind of a drive and any defense no matter how good it is will wear down if it can't get off the field!

A big part of the reason our RB's are struggling is the O-Line...Russell needs to step up play but so do the WR's...dropped balls don't help anyone...If the team comes together and Russell is still failing miserably then bench him....Honestly though It may not hurt to start Russell and bench him if he is getting killed...then start Gradowski...and then Frye if necessary...I wonder too if Russell knows their isn't much behind him so he isn't worried...in which case bench him a game or so.....

I want to make it totally clear that I am a huge Raider fan and have been since I was six years old,so it painfull to see the team doing so awful. My biggest problem with Russell is his constant missing of wide open recievers, this team is blessed with some of the fastest young wideouts in the league,I guess I Just REALLY miss Rich Gannon! Man he was awsome, even when the O-line didn't do their job he could still get a first down.Yes Gradkowski needs to start,he's no Rich Gannon but he can scramble if all else fails.

They should stick with Russell. To me, the problem is teams are putting 8 or 9 in the box to stop the run and the Raiders are still trying to run. The O-line is outnumbered and the Raiders are wasting downs. They need to spread it out and go shot-gun with short throws on running downs (or a draw after several pass attempts). With mangeable down and distances, the Raiders can run more of their current playbook with success. I do think that Walker should be given an opportunity in this type of early down offense.

I don't know why this posting says I'm from Modesto,I'm from Stockton!Anyway I still hope that the Raiders can pull off the upset of the season and beat the Giants!I've given Russell all the chance he or anyone else deserves it's Gradkowski time and the defense could also turn up the heat like the Charger game when Philip Rivers practically needed a restraining order against the D-line and Linebackers!!!

I have been a Raider fan longer than 33 years and the Raiders should stick with Russell.

Raiders and Straight in your face football? Since when? Plunkett? No. Stabler? No Gannon? No. Old may be straight in your face football, but it is not Old School Raider football.

Having been a Raider fan since 1975 I can honestly say that if it wasn't for fantasy football I'd have to break out my .45 and simply end it.

It's pitiful we're as bad as any organization ever has been. I think a move to San Antonio would do wonders.

Typical Raider Nation member the future is very bleak so why not live in the past. The sad part is Al Davis is doing the same thing.
Al Davis is now the owner, general manager and head coach while tooling around in a wheel chair at the age of eighty. As long as he wears these three hats while going senile the raiders will never win beyond six games a season.
Russell should be traded or waived and it probably would have happened by now if it weren't for the idiotic contract he has of 68 million with 31 of it guaranteed. All he has to do is show up for the game collect a paycheck and leave with his posse in his Rolls-Royce. Why even worry about winning or even being a half way competent quarterback?

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Aries

Financial muddles are more than likely today so be careful if you're going shopping. You might be accidentally short-changed or there could be a misunderstanding about how much something costs. This isn't a good day to lend friends anything valuable in case they don't return it or they damage it in some way. Better safe than sorry.
