Quarterback John David Booty, linebacker David Herron, and cornerback Marcus McCauley were among the most prominent names chopped from the Minnesota Vikings roster on Saturday, as the team got down to the 53-player maximum.

John David Booty is the odd man out. The Vikings couldn't afford to use a precious roster spot on a fourth quarterback, so they released Booty.

The Minnesota Vikings signed Lake Lillian native Jake Nordin on Sunday, three days after he was cut by the Detroit Lions , losing a roster slot battle with rookie 7th round pick Dan Gronkowski.
