THREE THINGS TO WATCH 1. Get good quarterback play Kyle Orton was having a very good game against Washington before he got hurt.

The game took something out of Chris Simms. Literally and medically. Today, it can give something back.

The story: A month ago, the Chargers looked dead in the division. Then Denver pulled its now-annual el foldo, and the Broncos and Bolts are tied for the AFC West lead.

Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton failed to see the practice field for a third straight day Friday, meaning Chris Simms will likely make his first start in over three years Sunday in Denver's Week 11 showdown with San Diego.

The San Diego Chargers have already outdone themselves. Or is it the Broncos who have? Last year, the Chargers became the first NFL team to overcome a three-game deficit in their division with three weeks to go when they caught Denver on the final day of the season.

Chris Simms was taking snaps with the Denver Broncos' starters again Thursday. That makes it increasingly likely that Simms will start against San Diego on Sunday in place of Kyle Orton, who sprained his left ankle last week against Washington.

Denver Post sports columnist Woody Paige posts Woody's Mailbag on Thursdays. Do you still think Chris Simms is the answer for the Broncos after what you saw in Washington? I don't think a week of work with the "ones" is going to make a difference in that situation.
