Is this whole chicken thing over 1 family? Our city council is spending meeting after meeting to discuss organic eggs?

Anyone know if this thing passed tonight? This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard about. I can't wait for the local news to get wind of this story. We sound like a bunch of idiots that the city is even considering this.
The rule is simple - if you live on more than 2+ acres, you can have a chicken. Smaller lots should never have livestock on them.
I'm not sure about the count, but I think the limit is 2 or 3 dogs per home, how the heck can they have 12 chickens? This is insane.

The broadcast got a little fuzzy, but from what I saw, it tied 4-4 by the council and Trivedi voted No to break the tie. No chickens for Lockport. Kudos to the council for doing something right.

If I misheard, please correct me.

No, you are right. Mayor Phony voted against the stupid law after telling everyone he was going to vote in favor of it!! Did you see the look on Colarelli's face after the phony bastard Trivedi voted no? Colarelli left the meeting and hasn't come back!! All I can say is, "You wanted him, you can have him!!!!"

Yes, it was ridiculous that they had to spend time on this, it is a no brainer and the vote should have been YES! Have you no feelings for these poor kids who now have to give up their pets because some idiotic mayor didn't keep his word and voted no, after saying time and time again that he would vote yes?! Backyard chickens are becoming more and more popular and the city of Chicago even allows them in high rises, but apparently the City of Lockport is just plain ignorant!!!!

Comparison of the city of Chicago to Lockport as far as ignornance? Chicago the house of Daley and Stroger, who else do you want to list and put ignorance next to their name! The City of Chicago with a $500,000,000.00 + deficit in their budget, schools that can't make or spell AYP, murder and mayhem in the schools and the streets. IF they have chickens in the city of Chicago it may go back to the saying the 30's, "a chicken in every pot". That is all they had in the 30's were chickens because that was the depression era. People who want chickens in their backyards must want to relive the 1930's and the depression era. Some say "ignorance is bliss", who is ignorant enough to relive those days.

Let me get this straight, the mayor brings up changing the no chickens ordinance, the highly intelligent elected officials spend weeks or even months discussing the issue, the chicken man (Mr. Flores) has been disregarding an existing city ordinance without consequesnces, and then a vote takes place and the mayor breaks the tie with a "no" vote??? Has the whole city gone insane? Do we not have bigger issues? How about the roads and sidewalks and empty strip malls and high taxes and the forced annexation that they are attempting next? The radio personalities and the surrounding communities must be clucking up a storm of the ridiculous antics that take place in Lockport. This is so ridiculous that it should appear on the Leno show. These people are all Lockport can come up with as far a elected officials???

If people cared about their government they would be up in arms over the township government. Whomever you are all things have stopped with the economy or haven't you noticed. Almost all construction has stopped and big stores are not doing anything right now. Can you blame them? This was an important issue to some of the people of Lockport. It is just too bad that it didn't pass for a one year trial for the people who wanted it. Let's be mean and stay the course for the little hens can't come to Lockport. Give me a break! I hope the aldermen that had the courage to vote on the facts last night take note for the future. I watched it and was not happy that the aldermen who voted no and the other vote were not based on FACT1 Gee, maybe we can put the whole Flores family in jail for their little chickens. Give me a break!

I totally agree. Where does it end? Many Mexicans enjoy eating goats too, the next thing you know they may want to raise goats and roast them on a spit in their front yard. NO BUENO!
Wow are you an idiot!!! We're talking chickens not goats. We're talking eggs not roasting animals in the front yard. Get a grip!!!! If your not a bigot you sure sound like one.

If Kelly Turner were mayor, this would have never been addressed. Kelly Turner would have told those people that they are fools and would have barred them from any of the meetings.

No reason to be upset. Just cause you can't go out in your backyard and stick your d_c_k in your pet chicken is no reason to take it out on the city council and mayor.

The word is "if", Mr. Turner is from past. Chickens in Lockport were in the past, let's move forward. Barring people from meetings is what happens in Washington/Crook county/the city of Chicago etc. A family that sustains itself by having chickens usually lives on a farm. The kids on a farm do the "chicken thing" on the farm, it's called a "chore", that's their educational experience.
