'Speed Racer' Lags Behind In Opening Weekend
"Speed Racer" was lapped in its opening weekend at the box office as "Iron Man" continued to fire its jets with $50.5 million in ticket sales, according to studio estimates Sunday.
The anime-inspired race movie edged into the No. 2 spot with $20.2 million, slightly ahead of the 20th Century Fox comedy "What Happens in Vegas," which debuted at $20 million.
"Our tracking was stalled toward the end," said Dan Fellman, president of Warner Bros. theatrical distribution, about market surveys before the "Speed Racer" opening. Read more

shaggy and scooby are really behind this ,because if they use the mcdonalds logo on the helmet then shaggy and scooby get to eat all the free big macs they want ,and tinker is shaggys lost twin brother so theres a food connection there |

if there wasn't computer animation and special effects, there'd only be 6 new movies every year. if only. |

I had hopes that Speed Racer would have been better. Good CGI, but kind of unrealistic. Week story line/plot. Seriously....John Goodman??????

Well, just goes to show you what happens when they overkill, or build up a film's hype. I never wanted to see it in anything BUT a cartoon movie. They should have just made it in typical Japanese anime as it was when I was a kid. People, even adults might have liked it more. Is a shame.
