Gretchen Birbeck, professor at Michigan State University, authored new guidelines for doctors treating patients with HIV who are experiencing seizures.

Newswise - ST. PAUL, Minn. - A new guideline issued by the American Academy of Neurology recommends doctors use caution when choosing seizure drugs for people with HIV/AIDS to avoid potential drug interactions.

A significant number of dogs and cats with seizure disorders don't do well on traditional drugs for epilepsy like phenobarbital and bromide.
