FDA issues warning on PPI stomach-acid drugs
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Tuesday that certain stomach-acid medications known as proton-pump inhibitors, or PPIs, can trigger the development of Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, a bacterial infection that can be particularly hazardous to the elderly.
