SodaStream International Ltd. Buyout Buzz Is Fizzing Again

Shares of the company behind the namesake beverage maker opened higher on Tuesday after Israel's TheMarker reported that an unidentified British investment fund was in talks to snap up SodaStream at $40 a share. Unfortunately for SodaStream investors hoping for a quick exit strategy at a modest premium, such chatter has been a lot like Bigfoot sightings: there are no shortage of reports, but at the end of the day these sightings fail It also doesn't help that SodaStream's home market of Israel hasn't been very successful in calling the hookup.

Looks like someone has put something funny in the Kool-Aid at Nike Towers, with the brand's new seasonal line of boots and kits obviously taking style pointers from notes taken during some kind of three-week-long LSD binge. To get things started, here's Nike's new boot pack for the Autumn/Winter season, with their four flagship boot lines getting a distinctly Skittles-inspired makeover And now on to the heavy stuff.

Tough new ad opposes bottle bill expansion

The campaign opposed to a ballot initiative to expand the state's beverage container deposit law is out today with a tough TV spot, decrying the "forced deposits" and saying it would increase grocery costs. "It means higher prices on juice, water, iced tea, soda and much more," a male narrator says in the ad, which is unusually long at 60 seconds.

Feeding my Iced Tea Addiction with a Complete Lunch

Anyone who has ever gone out for a meal with me has learned that the beverage I almost exclusively drink is iced tea. I don't know if it's the Englishman in me and that famed British love of tea or what, but I do enjoy me a glass or three of iced tea .

Michael Wolff on Vice Media: Why Hollywood Is Drinking the Kool-Aid

The Brooklyn digital property's CEO, Shane Smith, touts a $2.5B valuation and has lured backers from A&E to Fox by claiming magical access to young men. But his real trick might be marketing to a harder-to-reach audience: middle-aged media execs, writes Wolff Nancy Dubuc , Jeff Bewkes , James Murdoch , Tom Freston and Martin Sorrell are media executives cut from a similar button-down, corporate-culture cloth.

A Shovels & Rope ambivalent falls for the husband-and-wife duo

Before watching the The Ballad of Shovels and Rope , the documentary that follows Cary Ann Hearst and Michael Trent on their rise to stardom, I hadn't been a huge Shovels & Rope fan. Don't get me wrong, I hummed along to "Birmingham" and rooted for them to do well - as every Charlestonian should - but that was the extent of it.

Tom Ervin Heads To The Beacon

Our founding editor will be on the road a good bit this week but unfortunately he will not be stopping by The Beacon in Spartanburg, S.C. That's a shame, too, because if there's anything he loves it's good food served "a-plenty" - and some of the finest iced tea available anywhere in the world. Speaking of "a-plenty," it's been a little over a year since J.C. Stroble , the man who made The Beacon famous, passed away at the age of 71. Anyway, The Beacon has become a fixture for political candidates - which is why self-styled "independent Republican" Tom Ervin is taking his campaign there this week for the latest in his series of town hall meetings.

Hillary Clinton Serves Us Kissinger Kool-Aid

Sunday morning newspaper, steaming hot coffee, peaceful reverie, lounge chair on my deck, birdsong chorus in the background-bliss until I saw the Outlook section of the Washington Post with two, yes two, life size headshots of Henry Kissinger. Which was quite justified when I found that this dual image travesty illustrated a review by Hillary Clinton of Kissinger's new book .
