I wonder if he was for Gay marriage....sounds absurd I know...but then again so is Gay marriage. So this modern immorality is what those millions of men fought and died for....so men can hump other men and call it a traditional marriage?! At least the Homos back in his day had the class to keep their immorality quiet and behind closed doors....and they left the young boys alone. I.E. Michael Jackson...

Completely fair point, Captain A. and worth defending, I thought. Whatever the responses say, e.g. Jazz Singer etc., Allingham and his generation probably would have been rather shocked by this recent legislation allowing men to 'marry', especialy after what they had been through, so it is rather silly to make sweeping statements like that 'they have no place', and then someone saying 'I know mate'.

I quite agree William Buckhurst. When a man like Allingham dies it is fitting to pay respects to the man, and also to his principals. When it come to Allingham, the last of his generation and the keeper of the torch, one has also to pay respects to that generation and to the past.

And as flippant as post #1 may seem, it actually encapsulates much of what we see wrong with the slide of social morality in our age, as christian charity is replaced with an altogether more desperate set of mores.

I'm sure if Allingham was aware of half of what goes on now, he would have happily eased himself into his coffin.

We should all reflect on where we SHOULD be going, not where we are being led by the media and the TeeVeeee.

yep! my english grandad died fighting for this? What a shocker!
Mr Allingham was a learned pacifist and hard learned at that, it is a shame the media did not concentrate on that which he wanted to pass on to future generation's(it was sidelined)
It reek's of hostage taking by the media to further the case for war's

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Taurus

Everything seems to be getting under your skin at the moment, but this is no excuse to lose your temper, and you know it. Better by far to be discreet and plough on steadily, without looking to the left or right. If you keep your feet on the ground and don't get discouraged, there are definitely fair winds that will blow you along. It's just a question of finding the right balance between confidence and commonsense.
