Czech police seize million litres of untaxed alcohol

The Czech police have seized about one million litres of untaxed alcohol in tanks buried underground at more places in Bohemia and Moravia within their enquiry into the scandal with lethal bootleg spirits, Robert Slachta, head of the police squad for uncovering organised crime, said today.

Honorary chairman of Czech Social Democrats Komarek dies

Valtr Komarek, honorary chairman of the opposition Czech Social Democrats , one of the major protagonists of the communist regime's fall in 1989, died after a long illness aged 82 today, the server iDnes.cz has said, referring to his son Martin Komarek.
