Orica GreenEdge down two after Tour of California opener
The overall plans of the Orica GreenEdge team were hampered on the opening stage of the Amgen Tour of California after two of its main helpers, Michael Hepburn and Fumiyuki Beppu along with Taylor Shelden of 5 Hour Energy/Kenda, finished outside the time limit on the 165.2km circuit in Escondido.
Dog almost causes cycling chaos
DISASTER has been narrowly averted in the London Olympic road race when a large dog ran through the peloton as Stuart O'Grady engineered an early attack.
The gap is out to 5min 50sec as the breakaway group continue to make their way out to Box Hill, where they'll complete nine laps of the circuit before heading back for London.
A few category-4 climbs in today's stage, but make no mistake, the day belongs to the sprinters.
