Vuelta Stage 19: Hansen Solos Home in Haunting Finale; Big Weekend Looms

Lotto-Belisol's Adam Hansen ditched the peloton on a small incline inside the final 5km of today's stage of the Vuelta a Espana to win alone, ahead of points leader John Degenkolb and the remaining sprinters. Hansen's win helps salvage an otherwise quiet Vuelta for the Belgian squad, and bolsters what's been a solid summer for the team, with two stages at the Tour de France and overall success at the ENECO Tour.

Rui Costa is hoping to end his reign as world champion on a high with a good performance at the Grand Prix Cycliste de Quebec and Montreal on Friday and Sunday. The likeable Portuguese rider is a regular visitor to the Canadian races, and the testing race circuits used in the two French-language speaking cities suit his excellent tactical ability.

Van Garderen, Costa and Gerrans confirmed for the GP Quebec and GP Montreal

The organisers of the GP Quebec and the GP Montreal have confirmed that the USA's Tejay van Garderen , current world champion Rui Costa and Australia's Simon Gerrans will ride the one-day WorldTour races on September 12 and 14, with six of the current top 15 in the WorldTour rankings leading the WorldTour teams.
