CyTA to enter Greek mobile market [Cyprus Mail]

REFUGEES: Cyprus to get 32 mln from EU in relief aid

EU funds worth 3.1 bln euros will be allocated to member states during the period 2014-2020, aiming for the relief of refugees and asylum seekers, while Cyprus is expected to receive around 32 mln for the same purpose. According to a public discussion on "Refugee Integration in Cyprus: Managing Diversity", held at the EU House, in Nicosia, organised by the UNHCR office in Cyprus, the European Parliament Office and the Representation of the European Commission, Cyprus was commended by speakers for efforts to improve conditions at the Reception Centre for Asylum Seekers, in Kofinou.

Carta Worldwide to open payment processing centre in P.E.I.

The global company, which helps businesses process payments and carry out electronic financial transactions, will set up a data site at the Atlantic Technology Centre with assistance from Innovation P.E.I. "This shows the success our province has had in attracting businesses with a global outlook," Allen Roach, Minister of Innovation and Advanced Learning. The Charlottetown office of Carta Worldwide is expected to employ up to 17 people by summer 2016.

Though legislators have approved a law that significantly cuts the time banks need to seize and sell off property in order to tackle a huge number of bad loans, they backed several other measures that give additional cover to borrowers, including writing off the outstanding amount of a loan once property is foreclosed on.

Anastasiades, Eroglu to meet

Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on Cyprus Espen Barth Eide announced on Friday, after meeting separately with Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu, that the two leaders will meet on September 17, at the Good Offices Mission in the United Nations Protected Area in Nicosia. According to the Spokesperson of the Good Offices Mission in Cyprus, Michel Bonnardeaux, Eide arrived in Cyprus on Friday afternoon and met President Nicos Anastasiades and later the same day with Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu.

CYPRUS: DEH-Quantum Energy CEO recovering after accident

Nasos Ktorides, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of EuroAsia Interconnector, the international subsea cable project with a transmission capacity of 2000MW between Israel and Europe, is recovering after crashing his paraglider in Cyprus in early August. Ktorides had suffered multiple fractures on August 5 when his paraglider got caught in unexpected crosswinds and fell about 150 feet into a ravine in the scenic Akamas area, a popular region for the recreational sport of flying.
