My daughter, 43, was hit head on by a repeat offender drunk driver who was arrested at the scene. Both cars were totalled. She was shaken up, went to the ER, and seems OK. However, he was uninsured. We found out today that she has to pay for her rental car as she doesn't have rental insurance.. I am afraid that she will end up with too little money from her insurance to buy a suitable replacement car. She is a single parent of 2 girls and barely makes ends meet. I am nervous about suggesting a lawyer. How would she pay and we know the driver has nothing to go after.
She should consult with a personal injury attorney in ME. Most initial consultations are free and attorneys will...
I had a car accident exactly a month ago am worried I am going to charged with an OUI? I had two drinks and was driving home. I briefly went in the other lane while a car (cop) was coming and I overcorrected and crashed into a tree. I was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. A cop came to the hospital and took my blood for an alcohol test. He said he would contact me in a week about the results. It has been over a month and am wondering if I should still be worried about getting an OUI. How long do the cops have to charge me with a DUI?
You can always call and ask them.
Six years ago I got my first DUI in New Hampshire, but was from Connecticut. My CT license was never suspended, only my ability to drive in NH. I moved to Maine shortly thereafter, and got a ME license. I just got a second DUI in ME. Will the Interstate Compact uncover by prior DUI in NH if my license was never suspended?
Very likely as NH probably suspended or revoked your driving privileges in NH since you did not have the ability to...
I believe I could supply the DA (Kennebec) with some information unrelated to my case. These would be drug related. I know of one specific individual that could more than likely lead the DA towards narcotics dealers. He has stolen property (tools $1000 worth) from me and I have the proof. I am hoping to use this before I have him arrested. I know for a fact he smokes pot, I strongly suspect he also does heroin. He actually has pointed out a "dealers" house to me.
Statute of limitations for a felony DUI in Maine is 3 to 6 years. I'm not sure what the drug sales case has to do with...
How many days will I actually have to serve? It was for a DUI...
This is a re-posted question from a few days ago. Call a local attorney for this type of specific information.
Hypothetically, if I were underage drinking and a cop asks if I have been, should I deny until I (maybe) get breathalyzed or is it smarter to just admit. Of course they'll say, "If you just tell the truth, you'll be in a lot less trouble," but is that the case? I'm curious because it isn't automatic that a cop will breathalyze you if you keep your composure (I say this because I live in a college town and there are more people to bust), but its automatic guilt if you admit. What are the reprocussions of saying, "No, I haven't been drinking," then the breathalyzer says differently? Or is it the same as just admitting guilt?
And admission of drinking is going to be proof that you violated the law. Police probably won't even bother to do any...
I need to travel for work and don't want to get stopped at the border.
