Police arrested a man last Friday on charges of sexually assaulting a 25-year-old woman several weeks ago in a local motel. Officers said, around 9 p.m. August 26, Javon Marquez West met up with a woman from Williamsburg who had placed an ad on Backpage.com, a classified advertising site similar to Craigslist. Comment?

For the first time in nearly 24 years a forensic review panel is recommending that a woman who was found not guilty by reason of insanity in a 1990 murder trial be released to an assisted living facility in Newport News. In 1990, Florence Blankenship of York County was tried for first-degree murder for shooting her daughter's boyfriend, Henry C. "Chip" Eagle IV, 19, who was a guest in her home on July 10, 1988.
