A Clay Street woman faces an arson charge after she allegedly told a Jefferson County dispatcher she wanted to harm herself and then set her apartment on fire Feb. 8. Lula M.M. Collins-McCarrell, 25, of 320 Clay St., was charged Tuesday with third-degree arson in connection with the fire at 318-320 Clay St. Police said she wanted to commit suicide but then escaped by jumping out of a first-floor window. Ms. Collins-McCarrell admitted to investigators that she started the fire, police said. Comment?

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office on Friday charged Jesse A. Young, 32, of East Jewett, formerly of Watertown, with violating a condition of sentence. Mr. Young was arrested without incident at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on a warrant out of Jefferson County Court. Comment?

A city man was sentenced Thursday in Jefferson County Court to up to four years in state prison after admitting he violated terms of a prison diversion program he agreed to enter in May 2013. Mark D. Eastman, 44, address not available, was sentenced to two to four years in prison after admitting he violated conditions of the diversion program he entered May 5, 2013, by continuing to consume alcohol and by being charged by city police with petit larceny. An Adams Center man was sentenced Tuesday in Jefferson County Court to up to three years in state prison for stealing vehicles. Cori M. Reff, 19, was sentenced to one to three years in prison and ordered to pay $600 in restitution after pleading guilty Nov. 10 to third-degree grand larceny, third-degree attempted burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal mischief as a result of four separate incidents.
