I have a friend who is 65 whose been trying to get his drivers license back for the past 3 or 4 years. He's been without a license for over 10 years. He's used 2 attorneys and spent all kinds of money. Last time the people he had to go in front of down state said he "was suppose to have a sponsor" so they didn't give him his license . I believe they told him he had to wait one year to go in front of them again? He went to dozens of AA meetings and has gone to classes, got letters written and signed and notarized by various people, etc. He's gotten loans to pay for all this. & doesn't have much money & can't get anybody to take him to all these meetings again. I know the State makes you jump through all kinds of hoops. Is there a sure way to get license and NOT go to all these meetings?
To win a driver license restoration hearing, one must almost always prove regular attendance at a structured support...

In your experience, is it common for a first offender with a BAC in the range of 'Super Drunk' to be given jail time?
A LOT of it depends on your Judge. Was there an accident or any kids in the car? How high above .17 was the driver (...
Dui's stay on record for life in Michigan don't they?
They do stay on both your criminal record and driving record forever. DUI's, like all driving offenses, can never be...
Hello, I need some advice on what "could" happen. I am currently on probation in two counties for two separate crimes. One is an OWI and the other is for embezzlement under $200. I am currently serving weekends in jail for the embezzlement and daily breathalyzers for the OWI in the other county. I violated my probation this morning by blowing a .026. My question is, will I have to go to court in both counties also, what can I expect if this is my second violation (second positive PBT). Both probations have the requirement that I not consume alcohol (I know, shouldn't have drank). On a side note, I have been attending AA and have signed myself up for IMPACT weekend on my own. Any helpful insight or advice is greatly appreciated.
You need damage control and fast. Hire a good criminal defense attorney in your area. This is a second alcohol...
In 2003, I received a DUI in California...however, I explained to the officer that I was in the process of moving back to Michigan the following week. At this point, the officer decided not to arrest me, allowed a friend to pick me up and take me home. I moved back to Michigan as planned, hired a lawyer, payed my fines and completed 16 hours of community service. "Nothing changes, if Nothing changes". I received another owi in 2007 & 2009. In both cases, nothing from California surfaced...so I didn't offer the information. Thanks to AA, I am in long-term recovery and have been sober over 2 1/2 years. I am eligible to request a hearing with the SOS to reinstate my driving privileges. Should I divulge the information re: California? It asks on the paperwork of any other 'convictions'.
They may find it through the national registry even tho MI is not in the Compact. Registry is a dupifferent deal.
