A judge Wednesday set bond at $50,000 for a Solon attorney accused of stealing from the bank account of a disabled Army veteran who suffers mental illness. Gary Bakst, 59, was indicted this week in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court on charges of theft and tampering with evidence. Comment?

Assault, West Street: An intoxicated Chagrin Falls man slapped a woman at the Wine Bar sometime after midnight Jan. 3 for no apparent reason and drove away. An officer, unaware of the assault, stopped the man's vehicle for a traffic violation at 1:12 a.m. on East Orange Street, but the man drove back to the Wine Bar and attempted to reenter it. Comment?

Solon police are investigating the theft of a landscaping truck and trailer containing power tools from Bela's Landscaping. THEFT, SOLON ROAD: Between 8 p.m. on Dec. 15 and 8:15 a.m. on Dec. 16, a landscaping truck and trailer containing power tools were stolen from Bela's Landscaping. Comment?
