Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane today announced that agents from her office have arrested a Schuylkill County woman accused of stealing $11,400 in Social Security benefits from her grandmother, who has dementia and was not capable of consenting to the withdrawals from her bank account. Kelly McAlonis, 41, 1225 W. Market St., Pottsville, is charged with one count each of theft by deception, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. 1 comment

Marshall Glenn McGinty, 43, no current address, abducted another man from an Albany Township home Monday afternoon, then drove him to a Pottsville bank and withdrew money from his account, state police in Hamburg said. The victim told troopers he was house sitting in the 1300 block of Hawk Mountain Road and came home to find McGinty pointing an AK-47 rifle at him. Comment?

State police are investigating a Berks County kidnapping where a man used an assault rifle and tied up the victim. Marshall Glenn McGinty, 43, of no fixed address, has been charged with kidnapping, unlawful restraint, robbery, criminal trespassing, theft, simple assault and recklessly endangering a person following an incident Monday evening.
