TRENTON - The state Supreme Court agreed to review whether a former Rutgers University student accused of masterminding a series of attacks on Jewish facilities in Bergen County should be tried in another area of the state. The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office charged Aakash Dalal, 22, of New Brunswick, and his co-defendant, Anthony Graziano, with counts of arson and bias intimidation in connection with the 2011 and 2012 attacks , which included anti-Semitic vandalism of Jewish facilities and the firebombing of two synagogues. As a result of a six-month long joint burglary investigation, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Special Investigations Squad and a multi-jurisdictional task force have solved more than 40 residential burglaries in Bergen County and have arrested the five men they say are responsible. "Following a series of daytime residential burglaries in Bergen County and surrounding areas, detectives from the affected areas met and shared information about their respective burglaries," Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said. Comment?

RAMSEY -- A Paramus man kicked police officers as they tried to arrest him at a Route 17 hotel parking lot, authorities said today. Daniel Akdemir, 23, faces charges including two counts of aggravated assault on police, marijuana possession and obstruction of justice, according to a police news release. Comment?

Sgt. Michael Parise saw a white sedan in the Best Western hotel parking lot around 11:30 p.m. with all of its windows open, Chief Bryan Gurney said in a news release. The officers smelled burnt marijuana coming from inside the car and called a Bergen County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit. Comment?

A man entered the TD Bank branch at 102 South Paramus Road around 6:15 p.m. and approached a teller, passing a note demanding money. The man "physically implied he was armed with a weapon" by placing his hand in his pocket, Chief Kenneth R. Ehrenberg said in a statement. Comment?

One of Bergen County's most wanted men has been captured by U.S. Marshals and was brought to the county jail Tuesday on charges of aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a minor. Homer Rhone Bishop pleaded guilty to the sexual assault charge but skipped to Jamaica, Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said in an email. Comment?
