A Dumont man has been arrested after a failed attempt to steal several thousand dollars worth of watches from a department store, police said. A video surveillance recording showed the man trying to break open a watch carousel in the Lord & Taylor store in the Garden State Plaza Mall last month, Deputy Chief Robert M. A Brooklyn man pleaded guilty in federal court in Trenton for his role in six armed robberies of electronic stores in New Jersey and New York, including in Paramus, authorities said. Carl Williams, 30, who has been in jail since his February 2013 arrest, admitted to U.S. District Judge Joel A. Pisano that he conspired with others to commit Hobbs Act robberies, or robberies of businesses that are engaged in interstate commerce. Comment?
