Police arrested a man Saturday after he allegedly pulled a knife at a bar in Mountain View and threatened to set fire to the bar and injure patrons. A bartender at the Sports Page Bar & Grill on Plymouth street asked the man, whom police identified as 56-year-old Jeffrey Embersits of Palo Alto, to leave the bar after he got into an argument with another patron at around 8:15 p.m. on March 28. Instead of leaving, Embersits allegedly threatened to set fire to the bar and injure people, according to Sgt. Comment?

A man who shot and killed his Palo Alto apartment building's manager before killing himself last month believed the manager had been stealing things from his apartment, police said today. But detectives found no evidence that Vincent Collins, 70, had been stealing from Marc Miller, 69, and Miller's friends told police he had likely just misplaced the missing items. Comment?

The Palo Alto man who police said fatally shot the apartment manager at the Alta Torre Apartments before killing himself in the building's elevator believed that the manager was stealing items from his apartment, the police investigation concluded. Marc Alvin Miller, 69, is believed to have shot the building's manager, Vincent DePaul Collins, 70, four times on the afternoon of March 19 in the manager's office of the Fabian Way complex for low-income seniors. A 46-year-old Palo Alto woman was convicted on Tuesday of stealing diamonds from under a clerk's nose at a San Mateo jewelry store last year, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office. Angela Walker was arrested after she left contact information with the store clerk last March 27 and returned days later, apparently in an attempt to steal more diamonds, police said shortly after her arrest. The suspected burglar who barricaded himself inside a Palo Alto home for more than two hours before being arrested was identified Tuesday as San Jose resident Julian Baldes Alvarado , 26. Police officers surrounded a house on the 900 block of Elsinore Drive on Monday afternoon after Alvarado allegedly fled from officers, jumped fences and slipped inside the home through an open sliding glass door, said Sgt.
