Oroville >> A Biggs man was sentenced Friday to two life terms for fatally shooting a woman in the Oroville Wildlife Area early on Oct. 12, 2001. Butte County Superior Court Judge James Reilley handed down the sentence of 80 years to life in state prison on defendant Marvin Ray Markle Jr., 49. A jury convicted Markle on Oct. 17 of first-degree murder for the death of Shirley Ann Pratt, then 41, of Biggs. Comment?

The Butte County Sheriff's Department said Thursday that a 44-year-old man is considered a person of interest in the shooting deaths of a man and his wife after detectives arrested the suspect on multiple firearms charges. On Dec. 20, an Oroville man called the Sheriff's Department because his relatives had not arrived at his home in Berry Creek as they had planned to the day before. Comment?

Fresno >> Butte County Sheriff's Office confirmed Monday that the recent arrest in Fresno of a 31-year-old man is connected to the shooting in November of three people on Rusty Dusty Road in Oroville. Alleged gang member Yatee Her was arrested Friday by Fresno police and booked into the county jail on suspicion of murder, according to an article Saturday in the Fresno Bee. Comment?

A Paradise woman was arrested on domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon charges Tuesday morning after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend. According to Paradise police, officers responded to the 1200 block of Nunneley Road where Debra Joann Gonsalves, 61, and Kirk Addington had gotten into a verbal argument. Comment?
