A Chester man was sentenced Tuesday to 27 months in prison for his involvement in an April 2013 kidnapping, armed robbery, police chase and shootout along the Connecticut shoreline in which a suspect was killed and a state police trooper was wounded. Prosecutors said Corey Newhook, 25, stood guard with a firearm over a kidnapped couple in an Old Saybrook motel while two other men, Sebastian Award and Jonathan Alvarado, acted on a plan to steal money from the couple's bank account. Alberto E. Colmenares, 33, of 3201 Branford Ave. was charged Sunday with driving an unregistered motor vehicle and driving with a suspended license. Amanda M. Robertson, 32, of 57 Nathan Hale Road, New London, was charged Sunday with creating a public disturbance, simple trespass, interfering with a police officer, failure to drive in the proper lane on a multiple-lane highway and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
