A Natchitoches man accused of raping a mentally impaired person will avoid life in prison, thanks to a plea deal that gets him 25 years without parole. Glenn Redman, 52, was a bus driver for the Natchitoches Association of Retarded Citizens in February 2014 when he was arrested and charged with aggravated rape, cruelty to the infirm and false imprisonment after allegedly having sex with an NARC client. A Natchitoches man is charged with a hate crime in addition to simple battery after police say their investigation revealed a pattern of criminal behavior in which he allegedly targeted a specific race and gender. Police say Roderick G. Rachal, 35, was out on bond when officers were called to the Dollar General store on Keyser Ave. on Sunday, where a woman told them a man she did not know grabbed her buttocks. Natchitoches police say a brave citizen is to thank for preventing an armed robbery of a local store and helping police arrest the man possibly involved. It happened around 7:20 p.m. Friday at Dollar General in the 200 block of Highway 3175. Comment?
