Prince George's County police have arrested a Hyattsville man they say is responsible for the death of a one-year-old boy. Melvin Edenilson Melendez, 21, is charged with second degree murder and first degree child abuse resulting in death, according to police. Comment?

The Prince George's County School System is investigating how the personal information of thousands of its employees ended up in a report that was forwarded to personal e-mail addresses outside the school system this month. Max Pugh, a schools spokesman, said the district has begun an investigation into how more than 10,000 employees' names, Social Security numbers , birth dates and employee identification numbers were compromised. A 20-year-old Maryland resident was arrested in Arlington's Buckingham neighborhood Saturday night after police say he attempted to rape a 16-year-old girl. At about 11:00 p.m., Daniel Cabrera, of Hyattsville, Md., was taken into custody after police say he tried to rape the teen on the 4200 block of 2nd Road N. The victim escaped and screamed, and was overheard by neighbors and a police officer. Comment?

For the second consecutive year, Prince George's County should see a reduction in human trafficking and prostitution, according to data provided by the Prince George's County Police Department. In 2010, county police officers responded to more than 200 prostitution-related incidents, and numbers remained high until 2013, which saw fewer than 100 incidents, according to police-provided data.
