Several Boulder police officers involved in a May 30 standoff with a University of Colorado student testified Wednesday that the BB gun the student pulled on them looked like a real handgun, and the decision to fire at him was made in self-defense. That's an opinion already held by District Attorney Stan Garnett, who announced in July that the three officers who shot and injured the student, 23-year-old Coleman Stewart, were justified and would not face charges. Comment?

A Fort Collins man arrested in November 2014 on suspicion of sexually assaulting two children in Greeley and Eaton is scheduled for arraignment today in Weld District Court. The man, 61, who is not being identified to protect the identities of the children he's accused of assaulting, faces a total of six counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and three counts of sex assault on a child with a pattern of abuse, both felonies. Police in Fort Collins arrested a man Tuesday morning shortly after they say he robbed a convenience store of cash and cigarettes. Police say Townsend was wearing a mask when he robbed the Western Convenience store on the 1110 block of West Drake Road. Comment?

A man accused of shooting his friend in the head as they drove away from a Fort Collins party last September waived a preliminary Larimer County court hearing on Wednesday. Court records show Eddie Johnson, 20, fired a handgun inches away from Denver Mayor Michael Hancock's then-19-year-old son, who was also in the vehicle when the shooting happened. Comment?
