Police say they arrested a third man connected to the July 3 Congress Street shoot-out and charged him with the murder of a Boston man. Ivan M. Villot-Santiago, 19, with a last known address of 1 Beverly Place, Fitchburg, is charged with murder, assault to murder, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, carrying a firearm without a license, and carrying a firearm without an FID card, according to court records. 37 comments

A 26-year-old Fitchburg man was released on personal recognizance after being arraigned Monday in Leominster District Court on charges of operating under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Officer Juan Ramos said he was on patrol in the area of Central Street in the early-morning hours of Oct. 4 when he observed a black Chrysler's brake lights come on before accelerating and striking a parked vehicle. Two dogs were shot -- one dead -- Monday night in what police believe was a home invasion in an apartment at 165 Columbus St. Few details had been released as of Tuesday night, but Fitchburg police believe the shooting was related to another crime.
