MORRISTOWN - A 47-year-old Pennsylvania man was under the influence of cocaine, or a cocaine "metabolite," when he crashed a van on Route 80 in Mount Olive, killing one person and injuring two others, according to a Morris County assistant prosecutor. Jose Almanzar of Scranton was arrested by State Police this week on one count of vehicular homicide and two counts of assault by auto in the crash that occurred on Thanksgiving night in 2013. A deadlocked jury forced a mistrial Wednesday in the case of an Edwardsville man accused of threatening to kill a police officer. Fred Polisky, 69, will once again face a misdemeanor count of terroristic threats when the matter is called before Luzerne County Judge Tina Polachek Gartley some time in April, court papers indicate. An Ashley man has been sentenced to one to two years in prison for a violent confrontation in which he stabbed a woman with a smashed drinking glass and threw chemicals in the eyes of two other people, according to court records. Jeremiah L. Hightower, 42, previously pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and burglary in connection with the March 15, 2012, incident. Comment?
