My court day Is July first in NYC. I was wondering if I can get driver license in another state if I get convicted. I am planning to move to another state July 6th. I have restricted license right now and want to move for work. Basically do I need to be in NYC after my court day or I could leave and do all the necessary steps in another state?
Assuming you do not get put on probation (which could have limits on where you can travel unless it gets transferred)...

I haven't been convicted of DWI but my court date is in July. I was wondering if I can do the drinking and driving program and all the other necessary steps in a different state? I am in NYC and planning to move after my court date to another state for work reasons. I am not trying to go to another state and not take responsibilities for my actions. I just want to move to another state and do all the necessary steps there. Currently I have my restricted driver license. I don't have any criminal background or points on my insurance. It was one stupid mistake and I just want to do what's right and move on.
Make sure that your attorney gets permission from your judge for you to take the equivalent Drinking Drivers Program in...
I obtained a FL driver's license in April 2014 however NY never cancelled my old license. This is causing me to run into a number of problems. Since I was convicted of a DWAI in May 2014 in NY I am now revoked in two states (NY & FL) - which is disallowing me from obtaining a hardship license in my home state of FL. So according to NY I still have a NY license - to my knowledge you are not allowed to have a drivers license in two states so my NY license should have been cancelled when I obtained a FL license in April 2014. How do I get NY to cancel my NY license and remove the revocation on their end?
Did you surrender your NY license when you got your Florida license?
My friends and I got caught smoking pot in the parking lot of a beach in one of our cars. The cop only tested one of us for sobriety. We had less than 25g. He didn't book us but gave us an appearance ticket. We are charged with 221.10. The cop told us since it is our first offense we'd probably get an ACD. Do I need a lawyer to obtain one?
Cops lie. They tell you whatever they think you want to hear in order to not give them a hard time. In this case if...
I took a conditional plea to an 1192.2 with 1 year interim probation. I was told that upon the completion of IP, the charge would be reduced to 1192.1. DMV is now telling me that my license is suspended until the completion of the case. I went to DMV 2 days after the plea. Was it too soon for them to get the dispo from the court, or is my license suspended until I complete IP? What if anything can be done to obtain a conditional license?
It will all depend on what the conditions of your plea and interim probation are. You should immediately consult with...
On the day of sentencing the stipulations for my plea of guilty to a DWI .13 BAC was 15 days jail, 3 years probation, $1,000.00 in fines, a 6 month suspension\revocation of my drivers license, the Drinking Driver Program, and an ignition interlock device. The DDP program advised a substance abuse evaluation is a court mandate. I will not receive a completion certificate until I complete treatment. I expressed these concerns about probation to my attorney, I doubt what follows was ever brought to the court. I suffer from chronic pain due to herniated discs on multiple levels and am disabled. Many forms of treatment include narcotic pain medication and I am now receiving misdirected attention and my medical treatment choices are now being forced upon me with the threat of a violation.
Courts generally give Probation lots of leeway to decide what evaluation someone needs so I suggest you comply with...
