East Elmhurst: In "Boss stayed in UK after jail attack" , Reuven Blau and Denis Slattery erroneously reported that Department of Correction Commissioner Joe Ponte had not called a correction officer who was sexually assaulted by an inmate on Feb. 28. In fact, Ponte called the officer daily, and spoke to her via a Correction captain who is in charge of the commissioner's security detail, who was assigned to assist and be with her. Moreover, the department's CARE Unit swung into action, providing the officer with contacts for counseling and transportation to appointments.

DUI criminal record question..
so last year i plead guilty to DUI and DWAI as a pre-sentence condition. then last week, DWI misdemeanor was dismissed and I plead guilty for DWAI violation and i was placed on a conditional d/c for a year. Should I hire a DUI Lawyer or Stick with the public defender?
I got into an accident in Queens, New York and my car got wrecked. The person I hit, his car was alright, and left. I was inside the car while my friend took a look at my car outside. Two police officers came out of a train station came over. The car wasn't moving. Fast forward, I blew a .18 BAC. I'm getting charged for DWI and Aggravated DWI. This is my first offense and I don't have any prior convictions. I know since I blew so high and it's an aggravated DWI, I'm just looking maybe reduce it but I just really don't want to do any jail time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

NY driver improvement unit revoked my license for 5 years. can I get a license in another state?
I have had two previous alcohol related charges in NY and mad a terrible mistake and received one in NJ. I went through rehabilitation, and was denied my license for 5 years in NY by the driver improvement unit. I am appealing the decision; I received a letter from NJ saying I have to pay a restoration fee to have my driving privileges reinstated. My question is if my appeal in NY does not work out can I get a NJ license? Will my name come up in the national driver registry?
I believe the information is shared.
I need to reopen a DUI case to change it to a minor misdemeanor
I was arrested in 2008 for a DUI which has been closed as a DWIA with attending 6 months of group therapy and fine. The problem is I need to have it brought down to a record that won't affect my immigration, specifically for DACA. What is the process/steps? Has it been done before? What are the chances?
New York does not have the term minor misdemeanor. DWAI (VTL 1192.1) is a traffic infraction and should not effect...
Can I plead to a lesser DUI offense?
I was arrested Queens NY for a DUI for hitting a parked car while driving my own personal vehicle. I was on prescription meds and my alcohol level was .06 ( below the legal limit which is .08) No one was in the parked car or hurt. I am 63 years old and this is my first offense. Can I plead to a lesser offense?
You can't plead to anything other than the charged offense unless the prosecutor agrees (and the court approves)....
