A Clearfield man accused of stealing $500 cash from a carrier in a bank drive-up lane and attempting to pass a fraudulent check waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday during Centralized Court at the Clearfield County Jail. Randy Lynn Gillen Jr., 28, of Clearfield has been charged with theft of property lost, etc. Comment?

Police say a Pennsylvania man hoping to pass a fraudulent check instead stole $500 when he found that much money left behind by another customer at a drive-thru bank window. Twenty-eight-year-old Randy Gillen Jr. was in the Clearfield County Jail on Monday, awaiting a Feb. 11 preliminary hearing. Comment?

Closing arguments in the trial of a Pennsylvania man charged with strangling a pharmacist and the pharmacist's girlfriend in 2002 have been postponed because of nasty winter weather. A prosecutor and Hugo Selenski's defense attorney were scheduled to deliver closing arguments Monday, but freezing rain and snow in the forecast forced a postponement until Tuesday. Comment?

District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced Clearfield County's Fugitive of the Week for the week of Feb. 9, 2015. On Aug. 29, 2014, Patrolman Elliott Neeper of the Lawrence Township Police Department filed a criminal complaint against Weidner. Comment?

All charges have been dropped in the case of a Lititz woman who had been heading for trial in York County on numerous sex assault charges against minors. Court records show the state dropped all the charges and dismissed the case against 32-year-old Darlene Lugo on January 26. Kyle King, spokesman for the York County District Attorney's Office, said the state's juvenile witness had been "compromised," and prosecutors are unable to proceed to trial to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt. A Clearfield man who threatened to stab himself and others was in court asking for his bail to be lowered. William Charles Asuzu Jr., 30, 210 S. Fourth St., Clearfield, an inmate of the jail, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, two counts of simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and three counts of harassment.
