On Tuesday, May 19 Claremont police pulled out all the stops when a resident alerted them that he'd heard noises coming from a vacant home on the 1400 block of Lafayette Road. Officers responded to the home at 10:42 p.m. and saw a flickering light in one of the rooms. Comment?

Joseph Chandler Davall, the Coachella Valley man convicted of attacking and raping a 12-year-old Claremont girl as she slept in her home, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. On April 10, a jury found the 35-year-old date farmer guilty of seven felony counts including two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and one count each of forcible rape; sexual penetration by foreign object, assault to commit a felony during the commission of first-degree burglary; first-degree burglary, person present; and making criminal threats. POMONA >> Three men have been arrested, two in connection with the kidnapping of a 44-year-old woman and the third in connection with an alleged rape of the same woman, police reported Sunday. Taken into custody were Carlos Gonzales, 32, and Juan Sanchez, 22, both of Pomona, and Robert Lundberg, 49, of Claremont, according to a statement from the Pomona Police Department. Comment?

Hoodlums broke into a local Mexican restaurant in serach of dinero and fled the scene without being detected. According to Claremont Lieutenant Mike Ciszek, officers were called to El Ranchero at 984 W. Foothill Blvd. around 6:21 a.m. following a report of a burglary at the restaurant. Comment?

Claremont resident Natalie Fordyce, 24, was driving south on Claremont Boulevard from Ninth Street around 1:24 a.m. when the car drifted to the right and struck a grey Ford Escape that was parked on the west curb at Sixth Street. The victim, a 27-male Pomona resident, was sitting in the right front passenger seat and received a laceration to the mouth and complained of pain to his neck, shoulder and hip. Comment?
