The jury on the Etan Patz murder trial watched a three-hour confession video Tuesday where defendant Pedro Hernandez described in a slow soft voice how he choked the 6-year-old in 1979 in the basement of a SoHo bodega. A longtime friend of Pedro Hernandez, the man charged in the 1979 murder of 6-year-old Etan Patz, testified on Monday that Hernandez told him decades ago that he had killed a boy. As the trial of Washington Township Police Officer Joseph DiBuonaventura got underway this week, testimony from Assemblyman Paul Moriarty and fellow township police officers shed light on previously unknown details surrounding the events leading up to DiBuonaventura's arrest of Moriarty on DWI charges on July 31, 2012. DiBuonaventura is facing 14 criminal charges including multiple counts of official misconduct and false swearing in connection with the arrest, while charges against Moriarty have been dismissed after the prosecution argued they stemmed from an illegal stop.
