I lost my job two months ago and am having trouble just keeping a roof over my families head. I live in FL, any advise? I have asked for an extension but was denied. I have never been in trouble before. From the research I have done online, it is unconstitutional to jail some one for a debt? It seems the state of Florida uses judges to enforce the payment of debts with the threat of jail time!

I have a niece who is deaf / mute and has a drug problem . She is supposed to go to residential rehabilitation program and is under a March man Act . Judge incarcerated her until a bed becomes available up to 5 months and 29 days because of positive drug screen . Other people in jail with her who are not handicapped have gone to residential ahead of her even though they were incarcerated after my niece . We think it has to do with the fact that she needs a sign language interpreter and the facility does not want to pay for one . Are they covered under the Florida Civil Rights Act ? Back in June my boyfriend got arrested for a DUI and got put on probation for 6 months and then in December he got pulled over again for another DUI but he didnt do the breathalyzer. But his probation officer VOP him and he got a warrant for his arrest and now hes sitting in there with a 100,000 bond. How much jail time do you think he's looking at?
