Hello everyone!!!! I was recently arrested and charged with DUI. The very same morning I had a hearing in court and the judge told me that since it was my first DUI and I have a clean record she was only gonna suspend my driving privileges and refer me to a state defendant. Now my question to you all is what should I do? Should just stick with the state defendant of should I better hire a lawyer? I'm concerned that the public defendant won't be so concerned on how my record will be after we go to court. I want my record to be as clean as possible. Thank you all for your advices!!!
It sounds as though you have already made your decision that you want/need to retain a private defense attorney. Good luck.
I had obtained a hardship license in June 2012. The lady in the administrative office stated that if any changes occur with that hardship license I would be notified by mail. Notification of my revocation was sent out 10/22/2012 in which I did not see any notification. I checked every month cause im on probation and my hardship license was always in good standing. I was unaware anything had changed and I was driving home from the store after buying groceries. I was sustaining my livelihood and not out fooling around. I was pulled over for failure to yield. Thats when I found out that my license was revoked. I was never notified. The officer did not take me to jail but wwrote me a citation to appear in court for d.l. revoked as of 7/25/2012 dui violation of restriction.
Driving on a hardship license does not allow you to go to the grocery store either. You were technically in violation...
I don't know the specifics of the plea deal since nothing formal has been offered, but his public defender is telling him that he will probably be looking at a lot in fines , a year probation, and maybe jail time. Now I dont condone what my husband did, but it was well documented by everyone that this was a suicide attempt. They bakers acted him for three days. He was put on anti depression meds and anti anxiety meds which have worked miracles for him. He is a changed man and hasnt touched a drop of alcohol since. His public attorney isnt even discussing this with the prosecuter.
This happened in Florida.
Call an attorney up there named Stephen Stanfield. He is here on Avvo. he is the man and can help you out.
Had sons wedding on my property. Was very worried as 11 year psycho drama with this girl, ie said 7 black men raped her in her life, DUI, just found out kept from me that 2 weeks before wedding, she held my 9 mm to her head and pulled trigger because bachelorette party wouldnt let her go have sex with my son. This was kept from me as they knew I would not have wedding, went on to send them on $2000 cruise and she accused Mexican storeowner of fonding her. Now 4 months later put son in jail for pushing her after she pushed him off porch and cut his foot, would not quit contacting him until he tried to get injunction against her-has been 2 months, no hearing for him yet and he cant get his stuff. Her parents know her mental past and kept all this from me. Anything I can do?
Can you sue to recover the costs of the wedding? The answer is probably not even with her withholding information.
