Jeannine May, volunteer executive director of Keep the Rez Beautiful, said trash bags will now be available at several popular beaches and islands on Ross Barnett Reservoir and the upper Pearl River for boaters to place their trash in and take it with them when they leave.

Mississippi motorists have reported being pulled over by unmarked vehicles in the days following two fatal shootings on Mississippi highways that police said may be the work of someone impersonating an officer.

Richard S. Lankston, 19, of Flora, and a 17-year-old from Madison, whose name police have not released, are suspected of at least 14 thefts from vehicles in the city, police said.
