A vestige of the segregated South could be ending in Virginia's Wythe County. The government announced an agreement Thursday that would free the southwest county and three political subdivisions from a key provision of the Voting Rights Act.

Representatives from an international company planning to build a wind farm in Wythe and Carroll counties met with area residents Monday to share information and discuss the project.

It happened on Interstate 81 at 12:20 a.m. Investigators say 21-year-old Michael Marzano, of North Canton, Ohio was heading north near the first Wytheville exit when he ran off the left side of the road.

A Wytheville man died Thursday afternoon as a result of a farming accident in the Locust Hill community, police said.
