A 22-year old Sterling man was found dead in his home about 9 p.m. Tuesday, police said in a news release.

ROCK FALLS – A husband and wife were in Whiteside County Jail Monday after a search of their Rock Falls home Friday turned up cocaine, crack pipes and cash, according to the Blackhawk Area Task Force.

The Whiteside County Sheriff has a plan to keep kids safe this Halloween. Sheriff Kelly Wilhelmi is requiring all registered sex offenders on probation or court-assigned supervision to attend an informational meeting Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. during trick or treating hours.

They're semi-retired and pay $500 a month for their health insurance, which has an annual deductible of $5,100. That's $11,200 they must pay out of pocket, every year, before their insurance even kicks in.
