Mobility program to be offered monthly for the elderly

To help older adults learn how to prevent falls, Appalachian State University's BlueShield of North Carolina Institute for Health and Human Services will begin offering free monthly CHAMP screenings at the Lois E. Harrill Senior Center April through November.

Town urges county to keep ad valorem tax distribution

The Blowing Rock Town Council voted unanimously Tuesday evening to keep in place a county tax distribution method that would give the town approximately $200,000 in additional sales tax revenue for the next fiscal year.
