Look around you--unemployment at the highest in the nation. Foreclosures near the highest in the nation.
The residents of Washtenaw County are hurting. We have lived in Northfield Township for 18 years. Every year since we moved here, our taxes have gone up--and up---and up--. We have no garbage pickup. We have very limited services. Yet, we pay over
$7000 per year in taxes. I can't ask for a raise, I am lucky to have a job. In fact, I took a 11% pay cut this year. Time to wake up!!!! Time to live within your means like the residents of this county. It is time for government to step and cut--not increase taxes and spending.
I have heard over and over about the auto industry and its "legacy costs"--let's look at the legacy costs of the government. Maybe we need to look at the pensions and health care of government workers and teachers. WE CAN'T PAY ANY MORE!!!!! MY HUSBAND WAS FORCED TO RETIRE AND WE ARE LIVING ON A FIXED INCOME...WE PAY FOR 12 YEARS OF SCHOOLING PLUS AN EXORBITANT AMOUNT FOR THE COMMUNITY COLLEGE. IT IS TIME TO LOWER OUR
TAXES NOT RAISE THEM--IT'S TIME TO HELP OUT THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE SUPPORTED YOU NOT TIME TO BREAK THEIR BACKS. I was at the Livonia City Hall yesterday--beautiful building, beautiful city.
Most Livonia residents saw their taxes lowered this year--Livonia gets the message that property values have not increased--Not Northfield Township--our taxable value increased again even though everyone knows Michigan property values are down at least 35% from last year.

GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!!!!!
CUT, CUT, CUT--NOT SPEND, SPEND, SPEND
