C'mon, now. These are wild animals, and as such they are only looking for food. These sharks don't get up every morning with the idea that they are going to go out and bite humans that day! When you go into the area where sharks live, then you are fliriting with danger. Sharks do not have the mind to pick and choose who they will bite. They're merely hungry.

Jeesh we are the SHARK BITE CAPITAL OF THE WORLD and we DONT have a license plate for this! What the heck is wrong with our legislators. Imagine a shark's mouth clamping down on a leg in a "red wet suit"; how about the education tag with a Marvel comic book, only pictures - no words, that would describe the first or second rungs up the ladder of mediocrity; how about that ostrich with the feed tax exempt with it's head in that sugary beach sand with a Sargeant Schultz "bumper sticker" on it raised feather butt reading..I KNOW NOTHING..NOTHING!!!! Please legislators, especially Fasano, to consider these license plates next year in your feel good idea of legislative success!

Um, do you KNOW what that would do to our oceans? Sharks don't swim around looking for people to bite. They do a LOT for the oceans by preying on sick and injured fish that might make other fish sick as well. They also keep overpopulation of certain fish species at the right level. Why not kill of 10-20% of all the people who visit the beach? That way, there are less people for sharks to encounter in their own environment. WE are invading their space, and until they climb out of the water and start hunting us, how about leaving them the heck alone?

Thank you! Sharks are animals, and, of course, when a few bites occur, they are once again going to be portrayed as man-eating maniacs. Bees, wasps, and mosquitoes kill more people every year than sharks, so do deer and skiing accidents as well as lightning strikes. Why aren't we portraying all of these as man-killing beasts? People are so stupid to jump on the paranoia wagon instead of educating themselves on the REALITY of the situation, which is a word the media doesn't know well at all.

if a shark bites a person, we should lock it up in prison. This would serve as a detterent and other sharks would think twice before biting a human. Since the sharks aren't eating the whole person it is obvious to any sane person that the sharks are just interested in terrorizing people.

The bites are mainly ankles and lower legs, and in murkey water that occompanies bigger waves. It is no surprise that most of the victims are surfers. It is a simple case of mistaken identity. If surfers are willing to take the risk ... then so be it... as to most Florida bathers, the risk is very, very small.
Instead of the sensational ankle biters, they need to raise more awareness of rip tides ... the real threat to Florida's swimmers.

I used to swim with a bucket of chum tied to my Speedo, but no more! Now, I just wipe fish blood all over me and try to stay in water under 10 ft. deep.

Try to look like a manatee when you are in water greater than 5 feet . Dont forget soak in fish blood before going into the water.

We need the sharks to arrive earlier or a little later for snowbird season.

Yes I guess that was a lil profiling.
Alright the swimmer can look like a baby seal. The shark will eat, the fashion folks will find fur, the vacationers from the Arctic will have something to club, and PETA will have a face to advertise to the sharks not to hurt the swimmer. Cuz they like people are eating machines and they will listen and curb the bad behavior.

Yo, Dennis! Are you suggesting that perhaps sharks are members of Al-Quieda?? I think sharks were terrorizaing folks long before Al-Queida showed up.

I disagree, all I'm trying to do is surf, not f- with any sea creatures. So when some animal trys to bite me in half then it's them who need to be put in check, not us.
