D.A.R.E. Fishing Derby set

The Van Wert County D.A.R.E. program will hold the annual fishing derby Sept. 6 and 7. The cost is $50 for both days for adults and $30 for one day.

YMCA of Van Wert County to host 1800's Pioneer Days Fall Rendezvous

The Jennings Creek Council and the Van Wert YMCA are again partnering to bring the Van Wert community a fun, interactive reenactment of how life would have been in the 1800's.

Van Wert Federal donates to schools

In celebration of Van Wert Federal Savings Bank 125th anniversary, the bank made a contribution of $5,000 to each of the county schools: Crestview High School, Lincolnview High School, and Van Wert High School.

Biking/hiking trail getting final touches

The two ends of a biking/walking trail will soon be connected. The exercise trail, approximately 2.5 miles in length, extends from just east of John Brown Rd. to Richey Rd. "They are finishing up the paving now, then there will still be a few finishing touches yet to go," reported Van Wert County Parks District Commissioner Larry Webb.

Farm Focus, a non-profit field research and clinical trial program sponsored by Van Wert County, The Marsh Foundation School Farms, and Ohio State University Extension, started as a plowing match and turned into a two-day farm show held each year on an individual farm somewhere in Van Wert County.
