No Butts Left Behind diaper drive starts Oct. 1

For a woman who's working full-time at a minimum wage job, the cost of an adequate supply of diapers, which researchers estimate to be around $150 a month, or $1,800 per year per child, may eat up as much as 6 percent of her gross pay. Government assistance programs like food stamps and the Women, Infants and Children program help families afford some grocery and food items, but they don't cover diapers.

Tehama County opens rezone process for new landfill office building

RED BLUFF >> The Tehama County Board of Supervisors Tuesday voted to start the process of examining a rezone of around 36 acres at the Tehama County-Red Bluff Landfill. The Tehama County-Red Bluff Landfill Management Agency says the rezone to a Public Agency District would allow the agency to build a new on-site administrative building.

Corning City Council accepts offer for small city property; money to benefit fire department

CORNING >> The City Council on Tuesday accepted a $7,000 offer from a Corning resident for a 4,125-square-foot city property at 939 Sixth Ave., with the money said to benefit the Corning Volunteer Fire Department. The 55-by-75 foot parcel, which was acquired by the city from the Hall Family Living Trust, had "limited developmental potential," according to a city staff report.

Animal Care Center to hold final Free Cat Friday event

Sierra Pacific to be recognized at Tehama County Museum Jubilee

In addition to a new, crisper brick-look made possible by a grant from The McConnell Fund through the Shasta Regional Community Foundation, the museum has received a very generous grant of new windows for its entire main building that was originally built 155 years ago as an elementary school for the children of Tehama and Masonic Lodge and has witnessed a lot of Tehama County history.

Red Bluff City Council restores Chamber of Commerce funding
