Missing Missouri girl's sister admits to trafficking high school girls for sex

ST. CHARLES, Missouri - A 24-year-old Missouri woman was sentenced to eight years in prison on Tuesday for her role in the selling of two high school girls for sex. In court, Tiffany Piper explained how she managed the sex business and bought online ads that invited guys to pay for sex with teens in extended stay motels, according to a report on Fox2Now.com .

County seeks space shortage solution

There are signs that some St. Charles County government offices may be running out of room for storing data and evidence in criminal cases, training employees and dealing with emergencies. Jennifer George, the county's assistant director of administration, said those signs include using three semi-truck trailers for evidence storage behind the Sheriff's Department's offices off T.R. Hughes Drive in O'Fallon.

Missouri workers comp law bars negligence lawsuit against co-worker: Court

A construction worker can't file a negligence action against his supervisor despite the fact that the exclusive remedy provisions of Missouri's workers compensation law didn't cover co-workers at the time he was injured, a divided Missouri Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday. Curt Peters was working for St. Louis-based Tramar Contracting Inc. in September 2008, unloading a stack of dowel baskets manufactured by Maquoketa, Iowa-based Wady Industries Inc., when the baskets fell out of the truck and crushed him, according to Tuesday's appellate ruling.

Sheriff: Missouri man shoots woman, her father

St. Charles County Sheriff's deputies have arrested an 18-year-old man who they say shot his ex-girlfriend and her father. Lt. David Tiefenbrun tells the St. Louis Post-Dispatch the 18-year-old woman and her 37-year-old father were shot at a gas station on Saturday night.

Suspect in custody following double shooting in St. Charles County

ST. CHARLES COUNTY A 21-year-old man is in custody suspected of shooting his ex-girlfriend and her father Saturday night. According to the St. Charles County Sheriff's Department, an 18-year-old and her friend met up with an ex-boyfriend at the Mobile Gas Station at Highway N and Highway Z around 11:00 p.m. Police say the couple had broken up in April, but the man made numerous attempts at contacting and harassing the woman.

St. Peters puts temporary stop to red-light camera use

St. Peters has suspended use of its red-light cameras for traffic enforcement until it gets a clearer picture of the legal issues surrounding the devices. The city's Board of Aldermen approved a resolution by a 6-0 vote at its Aug. 28 meeting to suspend the city's use of red-light cameras at intersections until the Missouri Supreme Court rules on legal challenges to their use.
