Some businesses ban E-cigarettes inside

The Grant County Health District passed an ordinance that regulates the sale, distribution, and use of electronic cigarettes. That means starting January 1, 2015, people will no longer be able to smoke e-cigarettes indoors or any other place where regular cigarettes are banned in Grant County.

Alert Spokane helped inform residents during I-90 chemical spill

During the hazardous materials spill at the Washington Port of Entry Sunday authorities were able to use a new system called "Alert Spokane" to warn people in the area to shelter in place. Once the incident commanders at the Washington-Idaho border realized they were dealing with not only a flammable but poisonous substance, they decided people in the immediate area needed to take some special precautions.

300 acre wildfire burning near Quincy

QUINCY, Wash. Washington State Patrol said a 300 acre wildfire started Saturday around 1:30 pm in the area of Highway 28 and Crescent Bar Road about 6.5 miles west of Quincy.

Driver could face hit and run charge for fatal collision

Investigators are recommending a woman be charged with felony hit and run for a fatal hit and run on September 2. Traffic Unit investigators with the Spokane County Sheriff's Office are recommending the charge against Tammy Hodge, 43, who contacted detectives hours after the fatal crash. Rob Royer, 47, was riding his bike across the Park Road overpass over I-90 when he was struck by a car driven by Hodge.

A man who beat charges of exposing himself at Starbucks, but failed to show malicious prosecution, must cover the baristas' legal fees, the 9th Circuit ruled Thursday. Douglas DiBiasi was arrested in 2007 after three Spokane-area Starbucks employees claimed to have seen him masturbating at a drive-up window.

SPD arrests Wendy's stabbing suspect

Police announced Thursday they had arrested the suspect in a stabbing that occurred outside a Wendy's restaurant on Sept. 3rd. Authorities said Joshua Burnette was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail on a charges of 1st Degree Assault.

A search warrant filed late Wednesday afternoon at the Spokane County Courthouse revealed that Spokane Police Department officers are investigating a local attorney for alleged rape and unlawful imprisonment. The documents name lawyer Robert Caruso, 76, as the subject of the search warrant.
