Trial update: Prosecution says pregnant mother was alive when left hogtied

Prosecutors in the murder case against Curtis Durall Newsome today alleged Newsome’s pregnant girlfriend Caneya “Candy” Webb still was alive after Newsome beat, choked, bound her wrists and ankles with computer cord and left her face-down in the bathtub or her Edmond Estates apartment in Phenix City.

Russell County teenager accused of making bombs, planning attack at school sentenced

A Russell County teenager who pleaded guilty to planning an attack at his high school with homemade explosives was sentenced this week to two years' supervised probation followed by three years in prison, the Associated Press reported.
