Wake County names superintendent finalists

The three finalists are Dana Bedden, the superintendent of the Irving Independent School District in Texas, Ann Clark, the deputy superintendent of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools; and James Merrill, the superintendent of Virginia Beach City Schools.

Weapons found at school today

"Once the weapons were discovered, the matter was turned over to the School Resource Officer and criminal charges have been filed against the student." School officials said they are not able to comment on any disciplinary action taken with the student.

Lunch prices to increase next school year

Daily Journal Richmond Senior High Raider Jazz Ensemble turned the Richmond County Board of Education meeting into a jazz cafe with old and new tunes at the end of the regular monthly meeting, received standing applause and an invitation to come back.

Wildfire burns 25 acres north of Rockingham Speedway

The North Carolina Forest Service of Richmond County is working to contain a wild fire, said to be located on the east side of Highway U.S. 1, just north of the Rockingham Speedway.
